HOMEWORK
Your Teaching Philosophy
(Due July 14)
Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to write a thoughtful, succinct statement of your teaching/work philosophy for the students you teach or work with and their parents as the primary audience. Having this expression of who you are as a teacher/professional as a part of your portfolio will set an overall tone for your website.
Feel free to interpret this assignment in any way that makes it authentic and meaningful for you and your students.
You might choose to insert a photo of your classroom/workspace and comment on how your arrangement of your classroom reflects your conscious decisions about how to arrange the classroom consistent with your philosophy and style.
You might choose to describe a project your students do that is an example of your approach to implementing your philosophy. You might include a photo of students do this project or of student work.
You may choose to create a video.
You might mention the ways you integrate technology in your teaching.
You might mention your passion for the subject matter you teach.
You might mention your desire to have parents involved in your classroom, if this works for you.
In short, craft this “text” as a readable, engaging expression of who you are as a teacher that would convey your passion for teaching to the reader, with the parents and students as the primary audience, but with a broader audience from grandparents living in other cities to your professional colleagues.
