Capture a Concept

Quickfire Challenge | Capturing a Concept Video!

This is the first quickfire activity for the summer…if you are unfamiliar with quickfire challenges, they are short activities (usually done in small groups) that are aimed at having students quickly tackle an issue or topic in a short constrained amount of time and produce some result that is shared with other students and discussed.  Quickfire challenges are meant to be great learning experiences that get you thinking, get you practicing in rapid idea generation and production the focus is meant to be on the process not the product.

For our first Quickfire Challenge we are going to explore several components of compelling educational experiences.

  • -Random Groups of 4
  • -Each group will select a topic statement from the basket that is incomplete. (change, creativity, design, leadership, and technology)
  • -Each group will create a 30-second video that finishes their incomplete sentence.

Use a Flip Cam (or other small video camera that does not require rendering to view) to record up to 30 seconds of video on your concept sentence.

  • +Editing: No Editing required…linear 30 seconds is just fine.
  • +Time: 1 hour to think and shoot
  • +Presentation: 30 minutes (5 minutes for each group) to present video and talk about your decision process for shooting your video.
